Lesson II

Christ the Word

Introduction:

In the first lesson we learned that Jesus is the Word of God. We understand that in order to grow spiritually, we must grow in the knowledge the Word and experience the living Word in our hearts. If God is alive in us, then the Word is alive in us. What a wonderful thing to know and believe. God spoke the worlds into existence. Hebrews 11: 3 states, "through faith we know that the worlds were framed by the Word of God." Colossians 1: 16 & 17 states that Christ the Word created all things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible. I John 5: 7 states, " For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost." Praise the Lord! How awesome it is that God has given Himself, the Word, to dwell in our hearts so that we may be one with him. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness he told the devil that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 3:4). We live by every word that God speaks. That is why your relationship with the Word is vital in your relationship with God.The Word must rule your heart. Learning to walk in obedience to God's Word is the foundation of your christian life. Jesus said," if a man love me he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and live in him" (St. John 14: 23).
